Mitchell Liner
I am a potter and self-taught artist. About 20 years ago, my wife and I purchased a 200-year old farmhouse in Upstate New York. I began painting floorcloths as period floor coverings. To add a modern spin to a traditional craft, I began by copying Amish quilt designs but quickly evolved to creating my own modern designs. Since selling this house I have focused mainly on my artwork. In my work, I use latex paint, plenty of tape, compasses, french curves but no computers. My main influences are Robert and Sonia Delaunay. Like the Delaunays, I try to give my pieces a sense of movement and I want the viewer to discover something new in the painting each time they see it.
I am a member of the Nyack Art Collective and Garner Arts. My art has been exhibited in the 3 Pears Gallery, Dorset, VT, Lower Adirondack Regional Art Council Gallery, Glens Falls, NY, Volition Gallery, Orangeburg, NY, Studio Tour of Washington County, Cambridge, and NY, Crafts at Lyndhurst, Tarrytown, NY.
I currently have pieces for sale at Gene Reed, Nyack, XHouse, Nyack, and Synchronicity Gallery, Wurtsboro.
